These terms apply when you book a consultation with the firm through this website. They are written so that you know exactly what you are getting before you confirm.
What you get
A private meeting with a lawyer at the firm, in person at our office or by video or telephone, at the time you book. You bring your documents; the lawyer reads them, tells you where you stand, and tells you what your options are and what each would involve. You leave knowing your next step.
The fee
The consultation has one fixed fee. It is shown to you on the booking page before you confirm, and again in your confirmation. There are no additional charges for the consultation itself. If you then ask the firm to take your matter, the fee for that work is agreed in writing before any work begins, and the consultation fee is credited against it where the firm's written engagement says so.
Paying
Until online payment is available on this site, your booking is confirmed on WhatsApp and the fee is paid at the office or by the method the firm confirms to you. When online payment is available, payment is taken by a licensed payment provider at the time of booking and the firm never sees your card details.
Rescheduling and cancelling
You may reschedule once at no charge with at least 24 hours' notice by messaging us on WhatsApp. You may cancel with at least 24 hours' notice for a full refund of any fee paid. If you cancel with less notice or do not attend, the fee is not refunded, because the lawyer's time was reserved for you. If the firm has to cancel, you will be offered a new time or a full refund, as you prefer.
Refunds
Refunds are made to the method used for payment within ten working days of our confirming them. If you believe a refund is due and has not been made, write to the email address below.
What a consultation is not
A consultation is advice on the facts you present at that meeting. It is not an agreement by the firm to represent you, and it does not start a case. Representation begins only when scope and fee have been agreed in writing. If the firm cannot act for you because of a conflict of interest, it will tell you at the start and no fee will be charged for that meeting.
Confidentiality and conflicts
Everything you tell the lawyer in a consultation is confidential and privileged, whether or not you instruct the firm afterwards. Before the meeting the firm checks that it does not already act for the other side. If it does, the consultation will not go ahead.
Questions about this policy
