Al Faisal Law Firm & Legal Consultations ("the firm", "we") is a law firm in Doha, Qatar. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or contact us, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet Qatar's Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection and the rules of the advertising platforms that may have brought you here.
Who is responsible
The firm is the controller of the personal data described here. Our office address and email are at the end of this policy. Questions and requests about your data go to that email.
What we collect
Only what we need to reply to you and, if you instruct us, to act for you.
- What you send us: your name, phone number, email address if you give it, and what you tell us about your matter by WhatsApp, phone, email, the contact form, the request-a-call form or the booking form.
- Documents you choose to share with us about your matter.
- Technical data from the website: the pages you visit, the device and browser you use, your approximate location from your IP address, and the campaign or advertisement that brought you here.
- If you book a consultation: the date and time you choose and, once online payment is available, a record that payment was made. Card details go to the payment provider, never to us.
Why we use it
We use your data for these purposes and no others:
- To reply to you, advise you, arrange a consultation and, if you instruct us, act for you.
- To check for conflicts of interest before we take a matter, as the profession requires.
- To keep the website working, secure and useful, and to understand which pages help people.
- To measure our advertising: which advertisements lead to a message, a call or a booking, so that we can spend responsibly. This uses the advertising measurement tools described below.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations as lawyers in Qatar, including record-keeping.
Our basis for using it
We process your data because you asked us to (when you contact us or book), because it is needed to provide legal services you request, because the law requires it of us, or, for analytics and advertising measurement, for the firm's own legitimate purpose of understanding which pages help people and which advertisements bring them, as Qatar's Law No. 13 of 2016 permits. You can switch that measurement off at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer.
Who sees it
The firm's lawyers and staff who work on your matter or handle your enquiry. Nobody else, unless the law requires it, a court orders it, or you ask us to share it. We use these service providers, who process data on our instructions and under contract:
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) carries the messages you send us on WhatsApp under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Google (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads measurement) for website analytics and advertising measurement, until you switch it off.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram advertising measurement) for advertising measurement and audiences, until you switch it off.
- Our website host and email provider, which store data on our behalf.
- A payment provider, once online payment for consultations is available.
Advertising and measurement
Some visitors reach this site through advertisements on Google or on Meta's platforms. Measurement tags from those platforms record that a visit led to an action such as a message, a call or a booking, and may add your browser to an audience so that we can show you relevant advertisements later. This is called remarketing.
These tags never receive what you write to us. You can switch them off in the cookie notice, change your choice at any time from the footer, and opt out at the platforms themselves through Google's Ads Settings and Meta's ad preferences.
Where your data goes
Your matter is handled in Qatar. Some of the providers above store data outside Qatar, in particular in the European Union and the United States. Where that happens we rely on the provider's contractual commitments to protect it to a standard consistent with Qatar's data protection law.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become a matter are kept for up to twelve months and then deleted. Matter files are kept for as long as we need them to act for you and to meet our professional and legal obligations as lawyers in Qatar, then securely deleted. Analytics data is kept for the period set in the tools, which we keep to the minimum available.
How we protect it
Access to your information is limited to the people who need it. Our systems use encryption in transit and at rest where the provider supports it. Everything you tell us as a client is protected by legal privilege and by the professional duty of confidentiality that binds every lawyer at the firm.
Your rights
Under Qatar's data protection law you can:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete data, where the law allows us to.
- Object to a use of your data, including direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent for analytics and advertising measurement at any time.
Children
This website is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 through it. A family matter that concerns a child is handled through the parent or guardian who instructs us.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on this page for a reasonable period.
